EdgeFort - The project


The product

The Arkeia EdgeFort appliance integrates Arkeia's award-winning backup software in a complete hardware system, which ensures data back-up on disk and tape.

The task

The task was to implement this highly specialized back-upsoftware into the appropriate hardware environment.
A RAID-1 hard disk system and a tape drive had to be integrated within a chassis. High availability and maximum quality levels are therefore requirements for all components.

Hardware design

The Pyramid DesQFlex chassis was selected as a base for the EdgeFort 100 series. A special front panel
was developed for this purpose, enabling the addition of the hard disk system and/or the tape device. The EdgeFort 100 series stands out through its good looks, low-noise, compact chassis and the energy-saving concept.

Logistics, delivery and support

In order to ensure rapid direct delivery to Arkeia customers, Pyramid not only undertake the procurement of all components and finished appliances, but also the worldwide delivery and complete replacement service. Arkeia has access to comprehensive information including warehouse stock, appliance assembly status, series numbers, tracking numbers etc through its own customer portal.
